SHOWSTUDIO PRESENTS FLOWERS: THE EXHIBITION

Flowers symbolise a multitude of things; the birth of spring, purity and friendship making up just some of their bountiful offerings. They have also long-provided rich and wondrous inspiration throughout the history of art and fashion with nature’s unparalleled beauty seen in the creations of so many wonderful fashion designers, including Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior Schiaparelli and Rei Kawakubo.

To celebrate the beauty of nature, SHOWstudio proudly announce FLOWERS, a new exhibition reinterpreting the floral form as seen through the eyes of over 70 incredible artists working across a variety of mediums, from the traditional to digital and AI painting.

Showcasing contemporary depictions of flora by some of the world’s leading, cutting-edge fashion illustrators and artists, consider FLOWERS as our way of giving back to mother nature by inviting our ever-expansive network of world-class illustrators to contribute their visions.

RMB Latitudes 2023
A New Art Experience
26-28 May 2023
Shepstone Gardens, Johannesburg

From 26 - 28 May 2023, RMB Latitudes will bring together artists and exhibitors from across the continent to transform Shepstone Gardens, a magnificent three-acre property, into a curated celebration of art from Africa.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a curated contemporary art experience, while strolling through an iconic Johannesburg garden and attending art talks and walkabouts. What’s more, a partnership with Franschhoek Wine Valley, will see vignerons from the winelands fly to RMB Latitudes to share their top wines and bubblies with visitors. All of this will be complemented by a seasonal, fresh food offering by sustainable chef, James Diack.

“New platforms such as RMB Latitudes are vitally important,” says Azu Nwagbogu, Founder and Director of African Artists' Foundation (AAF), and curatorial advisor on RMB Latitudes 2023 International Galleries Programme. “They offer innovative models for cultural and artistic engagement that have evolved from the decay of our previous ways of living, and are developing new models for today.”

Celebrate in our shared creative spirit, ignite new relationships, and connect with artists and galleries in an inspiring setting.

Christie's London: A Note to Self Group Show curated by Mashonda Tifrere

Singing and songwriting are my first love — those are the art forms that come naturally — but I’ve always gravitated towards paint, canvas, photography and sculpture,’ says Mashonda Tifrere, who has curated Note to Self, a selling exhibition at Christie’s in London opening on 28 March 2023.

A keen collector who bought her first work of art at the age of 20 (an Ansel Adams photograph), Mashonda describes the exhibition as an expression of ‘joy, wisdom and feminine sovereignty’.

Note to Self  features 15 international female artists, with very different experiences, reflecting on what it means to be a woman in the world today.
